About Transmedia

Transmedia specializes in supplying books, serial works, continuation orders, grey literature, CD-Roms, etc., to a large number of universities, research centres and international organisations. Our main office is located in The Netherlands with subsidiaries in the USA, Great Britain and Spain for optimal service. Furthermore modern communication systems and a close relationship with over 4000 publishers worldwide guarantee a fast delivery and attractive conditions of supply.

Customer services

Our customer service department ensures an efficient and personal service. To optimize communication the client always deals with the same person for all matters concerning the orders. Our aim is a same day reply to all customer’s requests.

Databases

Transmedia offers its customers (on-line) the possibility to search/select/order titles by subject and/or check contents, price and availability via an extensive database. Not yet published titles can also be selected.

Bibliographic information and new title service

Title information for ordered books can be supplied in various formats as per your requirements. In addition, we are able to send you, on a regular basis, new title information on the subject of your choice.

Execution of your orders

All orders received are checked and completed on a daily basis against our databases and, if not in stock, electronically ordered with the relevant publisher directly or via our local offices. At the same time the customer receives an order confirmation showing the status of the title.

Supply of antiquarian and out of print books

Transmedia is used to trace and supply books which are declared out of print with the publisher in close cooperation with specialist antiquarian booksellers in various countries.

Invoicing

We offer a flexible system of invoicing based on the requirements of our clients showing prices in the currency of the publisher and/or any other currency requested by the customer.

Delivery times and urgent orders

Our daily order handling, electronic transfer of orders and standard airfreight service from the USA enable us to offer you excellent delivery times from 1 to 3 weeks for European publishers and 2 to 4 weeks for North American publishers. Urgent orders as well as Dutch books can be supplied within a few days.

Supply of standing/continuation orders and grey literature

Transmedia offers you a fully automated system when it comes to standing/continuation orders. For special (grey) literature we have at our disposal the relevant sources.

On-line trace and tracking system for outstanding orders

All information about the status of your outstanding orders can be consulted on-line via your customer number and a password. In addition, we provide frequent information regarding your orders which is based on updates from the relevant publishers.

Logistics

Transmedia operates warehouses with limited stocks in the USA, Great Britain and The Netherlands. Publications ordered in the USA are being received and consolidated at our New Jersey warehouse for shipment by air to our Dutch warehouse. A similar system is maintained for the UK. Our main facility in the The Netherlands is the central point for receipt, control, invoicing and shipping to our customers in Europe and elsewhere. Fast delivery is ensured by a European courier service.

Making books ready for the library shelf

We are offering the possibility of plasticizing and/or binding of your books including all other handling for the library shelf at very competitive rates.

Experienced staff and flexible services

Transmedia places at your disposal an experienced and highly educated staff ensuring an optimal and flexible service. New developments in the trade are constantly being followed and, if necessary, implemented in existing systems. As we deal with a large number of divergent clients, we are able to meet your specific requirements regarding communication, handling of orders, purchasing, management reports up to and including the integration of your and our systems.

Constant high quality levels within the organisation is a first priority of the management. This has resulted in the awarding of the quality certificate NEN-EN-ISO 9001:2008 in the year 2001. Frequent audits guarantee that the necessary standards are maintained.
